Never Enough Time

Kiddo was home w/ a stomach bug, so I didn't get much done other than solder some connectors on to motors. Why the hell did the Chinese put such small wires on such high amp motors? Its beyond me. Am definitely getting practice w/the Weller for a change. I think I'm going to rebuild w/ the higher amp motors, larger ESC's and see if I can compress everything down. The servo patch cables arrived from Pololu like a champ, now to see if I can shorten get everything assembled and start doing some tuning.

Bullet connectors!

And now we enter instruction hell!

So, in desperation... Lacking the right cables, I tried to read the instructions to setup the transmitter and the Qbrain ESC.  *sigh* This is really getting frustrating. The instructions for the transmitter weren't too bad, but the ESC ugh - utterly ridiculous. Add to that the reciever, the ESC and the flight controller all have to talk to each other for pre flight setup then tweaked....It's getting complex and time consuming. At least all thw batteries are charged and ready. The only saving grace is I have 2 sets of parts and enough extras to build 2 quads. Hopefully the second build is a bit easier.

Grrrr more frustration.

So I started soldering bullet connectors - not too difficult, got the battery charged and realized I was missing female to female servo leads. Ma Che Palle!!! Everything is working against me.

Missing parts!!!!

So was assembling over breakfast and realized I was missing some carbon fiber landing legs. But did get more assembly done.

The motor mounts

So I decided to invert the motor mounts in order to have better contact(more surface area) between the motors and the mount. By doing this, it unfortunately flipped the bottom mount plate so that the socket screws were facing down which could risk them loosening and falling out. Nothing a little Loctite can't cure!

Motor plate/landing legs assembly

Hmm, not to sure about Carbon fiber landing gear. Could be a touch too delicate for my ham handed use of the throttle.

We are building!

Unpacking and assembly start.
Quick shots of the assembly. Slow going with so much work/life getting in the way.
